PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 〰️
THE FOLLOWING WORKSHOPS
are available to groups of ten or more and can be conducted anywhere in the world. All Institute offerings are highly interactive.
Research is clear: we learn best when actively engaged with information we are expected to understand and apply:
WORKSHOP ONE: A two-hour session focused on two significant agenda items: Hearing from people on the autism spectrum; and ‘20 Tips’ which have two things in common – they are easy to understand; most people don’t know them.
WORKSHOP TWO: A two-hour session for participants who have had the previous session; this is focused on 43 strategies, each recommended either by a professional in the field of autism, or the parent of a child on the spectrum.
WORKSHOP THREE: An all-day Autism Forum which covers everything workshops one and two and includes presentations and discussions with resource providers from the local community.
STUDENT SESSIONS:
Programs for student assemblies are also available. The Institute has presented to middle and high school students with sessions as little as 45 minutes and can be longer.
“Thank you so much for sharing yesterday! I had students come up to me and express that it was one of the best “workshops” they have ever attended. They found it quite valuable!!”
SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS:
The Institute has presented to service organizations with sessions as little as 20 minutes
The Institute currently does not charge for its workshops. This policy may change after July 1, 2026. However, sessions scheduled before July, for workshops later in the year, will still be offered without a fee

A COMPREHENSIVE PROCESS FOR AUTISM IMMERSION
Autism is unique. Mention measles, muscular dystrophy, mumps, or Parkinson’s and most of us have the same vision of what it is like. But there is a reason autism is defined as a spectrum. There is a reason we say, “To know one person with autism is to know one person with autism.” The only thing that two people with autism have in common is that they bear the label “autism.”
With most conditions, the range of remedies is narrow and predictable. Have a cold and headache? Take two aspirins (or Tylenol), drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest. For cancer, chemotherapy. For each individual on the autism spectrum, there may be different strategies an autism expert would recommend.
Therefore, a workshop can be of great value in helping participants understand autism, and a workshop can change participants’ perceptions of autism and can change how they interact with people on the spectrum. However, no workshop can prepare a person for all of the unique behaviors they may experience when interacting with someone on the spectrum.
With the foregoing in mind, the Institute will work with a school or organization to set up a one-year plan (or longer) that will include
A sequence of workshops, spaced apart in coordination with what is practical for the parties
A process for obtaining prompt responses to questions staff members may have that cannot be anticipated, but require immediate responses
