About Us

The Institute For Learning Centered Autism has been around since 1997. While it has shifted in focus from more general professional development for educators to specializing in autism, our group remains committed to the work of Gary Mesibov, brother of director and founder Don Mesibov of our organiztion whose work with TEACCH, as a college professor and speaker, and as an expert in autism remains foundational in our approach to advocating for and providing sessions about autism.

In addition to her work with the Institute, Susan is a retired special education teacher who currently supervises student teachers for St. Lawrence University and teaches a class on inclusion. After teaching students identified with learning disabilities at both the elementary and secondary levels for thirty years, Susan finds it rewarding to help a new generation of teachers find their way and develop their skills using constructivism.
